Obento

This is by far the worst sushi I have ever tried. I have been to hundreds of Japanese restaurants and this one has the poorest sushi.

I turned up for the "half price" promotion and ordered "Tekka Maki" amongst other sushi. First of all, the rice was drenched in way too much rice vinegar and the portion of tuna in each maki piece was tiny-like 5mm diameter. Of course rice occupied the vast majority of the sushi-completely opposite to how sushi should be made. Sushi should have predominantly fish with a thin layer of rice and seaweed wrapping it.

When I complained about this, the waitress said "it's half price." I said I know but that does not mean it should be half the amount of raw fish. It's misleading.

I don't usually complain about meals but the problem with Obento is that the price far exceeds the quality. Sushi in Japanese restaurants in London, for example, are cheaper and far superior in quality, plus you get much more raw fish in your maki:)

My friends and I won't be returning to this establishment. After I complained, nobody came to the table to ask why nor did any of the staff really care.

The main problem with this establishment is it's not authentic Japanese food. Why? Because it's not run or made by Japanese people or chefs trained in sushi practices. For the prices they charge, they should at least have Sushi trained chefs from Japan making the sushi. Otherwise keep it how it is and reduce the prices by 75%.

It's really not worth your money going here.

Have eaten here many times and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it, from 6-course sushi/sashimi meals to currys, fried rice and a huge selection of Sake. Staff are always friendly and helpful, no need to be nervous on your first visit! No idea what the previous reviewer is going on about!

Not at all authentic Japanese food, we ordered the mixed Bento box at £11.00, contained Orange slices, potato salad (??), deep fried breaded prawn, salty chicken, crab stick!! Not all all tasty, frankly a rip off for the price and 75% inedible, really dissapointing

Great little place, food was delicious and seemed as authentic as can be.

Great sushi deal early on in the week too - the friendly staff confirmed that it will be 1/2price sushi for at least another month! Yeh!

Will be back very soon I hope.
