Went to San Carlo for my Birthday on Friday for lunch. The service we received was excellent and the food was fantastic. It is not cheap but you do get what you pay for and am definately going to go back.

I have been to this restuarant years ago and have never returned and have advised people against going there as well.
We had gone for a romantic meal for two....but it was noisy and busy. The waiters couldn't wait for us to leave to push the next lot of people in. The food was nothing spectacular at all, especially at the price one had to pay.
All in all, very aggressive and not a pleasant experience at all

My expectations of San Carlo were ruined tonight as I thought I would be served fresh pasta in such a supposedly genuine Italian restaurant. Being served dried liguine in a less than abundant cream and tomatoe sauce with 6 prawns at £12.95 did not impress me. On complaining to the manager I was told that it did not say it was 'fresh pasta' on the menu and not to expect such. Our whole meal was ruined and even though my meal was deducted there was no deduction for my guests meals and I was told to pay the bill or the police would be called. I have never been treated so poorly in any restaurant ever and feel extremely upset at the offhand and frankly rude and aggressive approach from the owner. The waiters were polite and friendly, the seats were very uncomfortable, they couldn't fit more tables in if they tried so it felt quite claustrophobic, there was little choice for vegetarians. Overall I was totally dissapointed and shall never visit again .
